Floom vs Candle: two couples apps built on play

Candle and Floom both make staying close feel like a game. Candle is built around one-minute daily rituals: questions, photo prompts and thumb kisses. Floom is built around full quiz rounds you answer on your own iPhones, with stats at the end.

When Candle is the better pick

Candle is designed to take one minute a day. If you mostly want a small daily ritual, like a quick question, a photo of your day or a tap to say you’re thinking of each other, it fits that habit well. It also suggests local date ideas, works on Android and has thousands of ratings.

When Floom is the better pick

Floom is for longer sessions: a full round of 3 to 12 questions in one of six formats, followed by a breakdown of where you matched. You can write your own quizzes about your trips and inside jokes, and widgets keep your doodles, notes, countdowns and distance on both Home Screens. The free plan includes quizzes from every topic, the daily question, streaks and widgets.

Floom is new, iPhone-only and in English for now.
