The best long-distance relationship apps, compared
A good long-distance app does at least one of three things: keeps your partner on your Home Screen, gives you something to talk about besides your day, or helps you plan the next visit. Here are eight apps that do one of those well, with ratings and prices from the US App Store.

Long-distance relationship apps at a glance
We make Floom, so we aren’t neutral. To keep this fair, every rating, price and feature below comes from each app’s US App Store listing, last checked on October 20, 2026.

|---|---|---|---|---|

| Flamme | Daily questions and long-distance countdown widgets | 4.7 (418 ratings) | $6.99 / week | Yes |

| Couple Game | A quiz you answer at different times, plus chat | 4.5 (5.7K ratings) | $4.99 / month | Yes |
All 8 apps are free to download. Prices are the lowest paid plan on each US App Store page, which lists at most ten in-app purchases. “Period not shown” means the listing doesn’t say whether the plan is weekly, monthly or yearly. Several apps, Floom included, list more than one price for the same plan.

What each app does for long-distance couples
Floom (ours)
You each answer quizzes on your own iPhone, whenever it suits you, and the results open together. Widgets show the distance between you, count down to your next visit and carry doodles, notes and photos. iPhone only.
Between
A private messenger for two with free calls, a shared calendar for schedules and special days, and automatic countdowns to the dates in it.
Widgetable
Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets for couples and friends, including a distance widget that shows how far apart you are in real time.
Couple Joy
Couple widgets, mood sharing and a distance tracker that shrinks as you get closer, plus games, daily questions, countdowns and a together counter.
Flamme
Daily discovery questions and quizzes, with Home Screen widgets for days together and long-distance countdowns in its Premium plan.
Paired
A daily question you each answer separately, plus games and quizzes in Premium. A good habit when your schedules don’t line up.
TimeTree
Not a couples app, but a well-rated shared calendar with widgets. Useful for planning calls across time zones and booking visits.
Couple Game
A relationship quiz where you answer first, wait for your partner to answer the same questions, then guess each other’s answers. It also has a chat.
What to look for in a long-distance app
Widgets matter more than they sound. A doodle, a countdown or a distance counter on the Lock Screen puts your partner in front of you dozens of times a day without either of you having to message.
Games and questions you can answer at different times help when your schedules don’t overlap. Calls and chat matter less, since most couples already use a messenger they like, and a shared calendar helps once you start planning visits.
How to choose
If you want something to do together across time zones, pick an app with games you answer apart, like Floom, Couple Game or Paired. If you mostly want to feel close between calls, go for widgets: Floom, Widgetable and Couple Joy all show how far apart you are. Between suits couples who want one private place for chat and calls. If one of you uses Android, every app here except Floom works for both of you.
Questions
What is the best app for long-distance couples?
It depends on what you miss most. Floom and Couple Game give you games to play across time zones, Widgetable and Couple Joy put your partner on your Lock Screen with a distance widget, and Between combines private chat, calls and a shared calendar.
Is there a free long-distance relationship app?
All eight apps here are free to download, and most have a free plan. Floom’s free plan includes quizzes from every topic, the daily question and six of its eight widgets; the distance and countdown widgets come with Floom Pro.
Do long-distance apps share my location?
Only if you turn on a distance feature, and how it works differs by app. Floom’s distance widget is optional and uses your location only while the app is open. Check each app’s privacy details on the App Store before you enable one.
